It’s spring. And in Melbourne that only means one thing – the Spring Racing Carnival. A couple of weeks ago we attended the Member’s Millinery Showcase at Flemington. L and I worked our way around the collections while the boys worked their way around the high tea buffet. It was a great opportunity to meet with Melbourne’s best milliners, view their latest pieces, and discuss designs. The verdict? Pretty much anything is possible (colour, shape, size) and now is the time to start the process (and avoid a Derby Eve dash to DJs).

In terms of millinery, I have some strong personal preferences: headpieces over hats (ideally tethered to a headband) and structural, statement designs. I hate anything small or fussy (namely flowers, feathers or sticks). With this is mind; here are some of my favourite designers and design details from the day…
